WASHINGTON, July 8, 2014 â€� Journalists for the American Chemical Öйú365betÖÐÎĹÙÍø’s (ACSâ€�) 248^th National Meeting & Exposition this summer will have an abundance of material to mine for their news stories. Nearly 12,000 presentations are planned on a broad range of topics from health to the environment. The meeting, one of the largest scientific conferences of the year, will be held August 10-14 in San Francisco.

The theme of the meeting is “Chemistry & Global Stewardship,� but numerous sessions also will focus on breakthroughs in energy research, as well as medicine, food and the environment. Among the planned symposia are:

• Advances in Food Allergen Research; Identification, Detection, Characterization and Mitigation
• Evolving Science and Environmental Impacts of Hydraulic Fracturing
• New Approaches To Difficult-To-Drug Targets and Diseases

• Advances in Nanomedicine
• Advances in Wine Research

The ACS Office of Public Affairs will operate a press center in the Moscone Center. It will include a press conference room and a news media workroom fully staffed to assist in arranging interviews. The press center will have wireless Internet access, computers, a photocopier and refreshments.
